OUR PASTOR

Christopher Herman Mitchell was born on August 13, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the second oldest son in a family of six children. There are four sons and two daughters. Born in one of the hottest months of the year, Christopher later grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. Under the oversight of his father and mother, Christopher was brought up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Christopher means follower of Christ or disciple of Christ. He has always tried to imitate Jesus and stand up for what he believes is right. He became a Christian by being baptized, upon confession of his faith in Christ on the 9th day of July 1977 at the Page Blvd. Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri. He was baptized by Waymon Stewart, Sr., under the ministry of Brother Marshall Rose. He was only eight years of age, but became a serious student of the art of Preaching at age thirteen. His attractive spirit filled voice has touched many hearts.

Christopher H. Mitchell received his early education in St. Louis, Missouri. He played High School Football at University City Senior High School. He was also an Honor Roll student.

OUR CHURCH

We are dedicated to going into some of the most poverty striken areas of the inner-city with the greatest message available this side of Heaven. We are also among the few Churches in the area that is committed to reconstructing, redeveloping, resuscitating, and revitalizing a callous, cold, corrupt and crippled community.

Our calling is to reach people who feel "worthless" and tell them that they have a portion with the great. To reach people who are rejected and tell them that they are chosen. To reach people who have been abandoned and tell them that they can be one with God, one with themselves and one with humanity. To reach people who have been abused and tell them that they have purpose. Our goal is to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all that Christ has commanded. Our motto is, "Meeting the Needs of the Masses." Our vision is to take the city of St. Louis for the Lord.

Although he loved the fine arts, he has never regretted becoming a minister. Faithful in attendance at the Church of Christ, Christopher has always been a good student of the Word. He even on many occasions conducted Bible studies with his friends in order to convert them. Christopher was trained to be a Gospel Preacher under the tutelage of Dr. David L. Lane (The Golden Voice of the Midwest). In 1988 he was ordained by the Berkeley Heights Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of twenty. This marked the beginning of Christopher's professional ministry. With much encouragement from Dr. Lane, he has continued his work in the ministry.

Appoximately one year later, with the help of God he established the Youth Ministry of the Southside Churchof Christ in Durham, North Carolina and became the "Outstanding Young Man of America" in 1990. He obtained a B.A. in Bible from Southwestern Christian College and has received several hours towards a Master's Degree in Divinity at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Christopher's focus in education has been ministry. He is a member of the Tau Phi Kappa Fraternity which is a spiritual social club of brotherly kindness. Christopher's STRENGTHS are as followed: He is INDOMITABLE, SPIRITED, COURAGEOUS, COMMANDING, HEROIC, CREATIVE, Magnetic, Success-oriented and Caring. He is a natural born leader with highly developed instincts to influence people for Christ. Also, anointed by God as a dynamic preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being an excellent Evangelist he is a good planner, as well as capable of organizing an effective plan and seeing it through. When asked, "What is the best way to introduce yourself?" He replies, "As a man who is striving to do God's Will." Evangelist Christopher H. Mitchell is presently the minister of the St. Louis Metropolitan Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri.
